Davy Jones' Locker is an idiom for the bottom of the sea — the resting place of drowned seamen. It is used as a euphemism for death at sea (e.g. to be "sent to Davy Jones' Locker")

Davy Jones is a nickname (used primarily by sailors) for what would be the devil of the seas. The origins of the name are unclear, and many theories have been put forth, including incompetent sailors, a pub owner who kidnapped sailors, or that Davy Jones is another name for the devil.

The story's reputation has been widespread among sailors since its popularization, and nautical traditions have been created around him. He is also very popular in the broader culture.

"Was there a real Davey Jones? That's a question linguists have pondered since 18th-century sailors started using the name for the evil spirit of the sea or the deadly depths of the ocean. Some claim the original Davey Jones was a British pirate, but there's no evidence such a person actually existed. Others swear he was a London pub owner who kept drugged ale in a special locker, served it to the unwary, then had them shanghaied to sea. But the theory considered most plausible is that the "Davey" in "Davey Jones' Locker" was inspired by St. David, the patron saint of Wales, who was often invoked by Welsh sailors. The "Jones" is traced to Jonah, the Biblical figure who was swallowed by a whale."

His beating heart, but I'd also like to think he had a gym kit in there that was in need of a seriously good wash, a picture of a topless lady and the remnants of what looks like a ham sandwich, but noone is entirely sure!
