Relax. No need for any instal/uninstal
Norton is just fine. Why it doesn't delete them i have no idea.
When it gives u the list of the 6 viruses, u can also see their filenames.
Open My computer, click on search, and type in the filename and search for the viruses one at a time.
When u locate it, just permenantly delete (Shift+Del).
*If you cannot delete it, then the virus is running.
press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up your task manager.
End all processes that are not vital. Try to delete it again.
Empty your temporary intetrnet folders, cookies, temp files etc..
And scan your registry with your anti virus.
G'luk.
PS. You can go to symantec.com (norton site) and search for direct removal procedures for the specific viruses u have as well (detailed and for experts)

Update Norton now and scan again in safe mode, tap F8 as your computer boots up, select start in safe mode, then run a scan.
If you know the names of the virus` search the Symantec data base for removal instructions.
Norton anti-virus is OK, I have used it for years with no real problems, in conjunction with ZoneAlarm, Spywareblaster, Spybot S&D and Ad Aware SE Personal edition my PC has stayed reasonably clean for years and that is with at least 5 people using it.
Good luck.

!- switch to AVG like others have recommended.
2- install and run AVG, it my take care of the problems.
3- If it can't fix them all (once run some infections can't removed traditionally) search fro the particular virus or trojan in a search engine. You'll likely find a "removal tool" especially made for this virus.

Do not format the PC!
Try AVG free. (see below)
It may help, other virus tools are available at the site below.
If you know the virus their may be tool available for cleaning from Symantec
Agree with some of the above. Norton is very heavy on resources!!!!I don't use it....

I agree with Ashutosh completely. I used to have Norton, and it failed miserably. Install the free AVG software, run it, remove the crap, and then buy yourself ZoneAlarm Security Suite. Norton is useless, period.

Not a lot to go on. you do not say which virus it discovered
Make sure that your virus checker is up to date by downloading any updates and run it again. Or go here and run a scan
http://onlinescan.avast.com/
Remember that new virus come put everyday and your virus checker will not be able to remove them if it is not kept updated
Type the virus in your search engine and then look for the remover for it
