When I was a police officer, we were called to an apartment building to investigate a "suspicious odor". Upon arrival, both me and my partner immediately recognized what that odor was: the smell of a dead body. I had seen many dead bodies before, but not like this one. It was summer time, and the hot weather helps speed up decomposition. This person died in his kitchen, stark naked, and was laying dead for several days before anyone noticed the stench emanating from his apartment. As a body rots, gasses build up under the skin until the decomposing flesh splits open from the strain. The body "purges" and bodily fluids are belched out all over the place. In his case, there was blood and goo all over the walls, appliances, and even the ceiling. Maggots were eating every square inch of his body and the only recognizable feature that looked remotely human was what remained of his head. One of the poor bastards from the morgue who came to get the body slipped on the goo and almost landed on top of the maggot ridden, squirming pile of flesh. He caught himself on the kitchen counter which was also dripping with bodily fluid. To this day, I can still smell that stench.

A green mamba (snake) - although it was safely behind glass and I knew that, it seemed to ooooooooze menace - really scary.
I also find some of the answers on Answers surprisingly ugly - when someone asks a genuine question, not cheating on their homework or doing anything reprehensible, and someone will write in with a comment like 'Who cares, you moron ...' That speaks to a general level of unpleasantness that's bothersome.
