In addition to strengthening the black market, it seems to me as if the only thing gun control will ultimately do is emasculate the people at a time when the left keeps reminding us of how dangerous our government has become to basic freedoms.sorry, but seeing someone like Michael Moore make documentaries like Bowling for Columbine one minute and Farenhieght 9/11(Which was correct) the next makes no sense.Your thoughts please...

I totaly agree with you. Seems to me that Liberals tend to be for civil liberties until it comes to guns which help protect liberty. I never have understood why it seems conservatives seem to deny liberty until it comes ot guns and then they seem to be in favor of that liberty and it seems liberals ond conservatives change sides and keep on fighting... I don't get it I'm for all civil liberties and I don't change sides of the fense on gun issues I believe it is one of our rights worth protecting.

I am a democrat, I wanted you to know this first. I do not support, nor will I ever support gun control as I do that myself. To blanket that the left is in support of gun control is a fallacy, I have owned guns since I was 9 years old, I use them to hunt and for target shooting only and those are the forms of gun control that I endorse. Hitting your target and practicing gun safety. I have never shot or even pointed a gun at a human being. So do not say the left is in support of gun control is completely wrong and is as bad as you claim that Michael Moore's movies are at not telling the truth. You are the problem, not me.

This is the same argument I have been hearing for years. "If you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns" It makes a great bumper sticker, but the logic is non existent. You cannot apply this to anytihng else and have it sound like it makes sense--try it! If they outlawed heroin and cocaine, only outlaws would have it...oh, wait a minute, they did outlaw that stuff...why? Because it is detrimental to the proper functioning of society. The truth is, too many people own guns who have no business owning them. Why are we ok with making people get licenses from the government to catch a fish, but we are not ok with having people register and be licensed to have a deadly weapon? A 16 year old kid doesn't need to own a gun, nor should many of the other people who own them. What's wrong with demonstrating you know how to properly handle a weapon and being licensed for it's use, just like we must demonstrate we know how to use another deadly weapon (a car) before we are permitted to use that?

My personal thing with guns is that there is no good that comes from having one. I will never go hunting, so I don't need one for that, and otherwise, I simply do not live in fear of my neighbor. I have a lock on my door, and a phone to call 911 and other than that, I feel very safe moving through the world in which I live. I feel sad for people who feel the only way they can live comfortably in their own homes is to have deadly weapons there. If you believe your area is so unsafe, contribute to your community and join or form a crime watch group.

For me, this issue has nothing do with with distrust of the government. It has to do with creating hurdles for people who want to own guns to jump through so that if a gun is used in the commission of a crime, it will either be registered and easier to track or it will constitute an additional charge to be tacked onto a criminals list of charges if arrested.

I don't trust the government becasue they have come to believe, it seems, that their duty is to serve corporations, not citizens.

People support gun control because in a civilized, policed society arming the population is unnecessary and dangerous. If the argument is "then only criminals will have guns" the answer is to increase police presence to abate the threat, not arm unschooled, glassey eyed rednecks to the teeth. I say that owning a gun is a sign of distrusting your government. How bout them apples, junior?

somewhat of the two.. weapons are a great investment piece, they continuously are worth money. while the financial gadget sucks and you have a democrat in workplace, gun sales tend to boost. while the attack weapon ban became put in place, you're able to make extremely some income case you had "attack form rifles".... yet that ban has exceeded "2003".. while obummer stated he is going to take AK47's off the line, gun vendors bypass frightened, ban one variety, then yet another "domino result"...additionally the UN hands treaty is inflicting extremely some buzz.

Because liberals want a government with 100% responsibility and 0% authority. Socialist morons want to legislate their way to power, because they haven't the stomach or the wit to win a stand up fight. They can only control an unarmed and drug-addicted public. They can't cope with a clear thinking and heavily armed country because we'd snuff out their pathetic lives.

Liberals traditionally do not want to punish lawbreakers. They think that breaking the law is just an expression of free speech. Therefore, in order to disarm the criminals who intend harm to others, we all must give up our firearms. It doesn't matter that you've never committed an offense in your entire life and that you're actively involved in a shooting sport, you must give up your guns so some criminal they have been coddling won't break into your house, steal your gun and use it on one of them. It's a failed policy from a flawed mentality.

11,000 murders in the USA
84 in the UK.

Real gun control works. There is nothing wrong keeping guns out of the hands of felons, criminals, thugs, gangs, etc.

Used guns, and gun shows need to be monitored, and checks performed before ANY sale is made.

We liberals love America, just not the present gov't.
