what information system/technology IBM is using

This is a very vague question. IBM uses the same technologies as everyone else in-house. I doubt they use much OS/2 anymore - they havn't supported it without special contracts in quite some time. I'm sure they run either Linux or Windows.

As for what technologies they deal in, that changes all the time. They used to be a big network provider. Now, not so much. They do have a good server market for Intel chips to run Windows clusters or servers on.

Their mainframe line is still out there. It's now called z/OS for the operating system.

The AS/400 mini line is still out there as well. It's still running OS/400 last I checked.

Some of the cooler things going on is that mainframes are now running Linux in partitions as well. So you may partition the system off to have a couple unix boxes on the same frame or hardware as the batch mainframe processing.

Basically, they have their hands into pretty much everything that makes business sense for them as they always have.

IBM have several technologies, one of their high end server systems is AS400. Not something for the house.
