I AM A S'KLALLAM TRIBAL MEMBER.
I WENT THROUGH THE FEDERAL GRANT/FUNDING(FAFSA) APPLICATION JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER PERSPECTIVE NATIVE AND NON-NATIVE STUDENT DID.

SOME TRIBES THAT ARE WELL-OFF DO PAY FULLY FOR COLLEGE EDUCATION OF ENROLLED TRIBAL MEMBERS. AND SOME PAY PARTIALLY.
MY TRIBE ASKS THAT WE APPLY FOR A GRANT FIRST, THEN THEY HAVE A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AS A FALLBACK.

BUT IF YOU FAIL OR DROP OUT, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PAY BACK EVERY LAST CENT. WHICH IS COMPLETELY FAIR, BECAUSE MY TRIBE HAS BEEN PUTTING ASIDE MONEY FOR MANY YEARS TO HELP SEND TRIBAL MEMBERS TO COLLEGE, NONE OF WHICH IS GOVERNMENT FUNDED.

IT IS AN URBAN LEGEND THAT NATIVE AMERICANS "GET FREE COLLEGE"...SIMPLY UNTRUE, AND IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A FREE HANDOUT, THERE IS NO SUCH THING.

certainly there are 2 colleges for Natives. yet you will desire to be enrolled in a Federally recognized tribe. That being suggested, it wont be hassle-free. in basic terms because of the fact some ancestor of yours "would" have been interior sight would not recommend you may call your self a interior sight American. you have been a "non-interior sight" this long, so why do no longer you pass away the faculty investment to the youngsters that have been interior sight from day one. our little ones have a complicated sufficient time getting previous roadblocks in easy terms to locate some youngster who discovered a sneaky thank you to affix has taken a scholarship. Your extra effective off submitting for a pupil own loan.

Work hard, get a scholarship, pay like the rest of us. You are not special. I would imagine a majority of Americans are at least 1/8 or more of Native decent.

You don't. I think most of the kids that get some help are attending native colleges. You'd have a better chance just trying for all the regular scholarships you can get.
