It is incorrect to assume that India lags so behind China in develeopment. In fact,India has achieved great strides in every sphere of development viz, education, technology, infrastructure, communication, industry, services and others. But the greatest impediment to quick development is its burgeoning population, something mammoth by proportions. Also, other factors like corruption, bureaucracy, misrule, lack of accountability, too many hurdles against rapid development etc.matter.China still has lots of problems but it has a stable and investment-friendly government.India cannot be rated as being not clean or not developed any more.

In one word it is discipline.
Chinese leaders are disciplined
Chinese people are disciplined
China though different in many ways like India yet United to achieve World supremacy
Merit is considered as criterion for all work
Education is universal
Politicians do not loot the nation and become rich.
All of this are exactly opposite in India so with increase reservations based on cast alone will take the country back to oblivion

Because China has one hell of a contract with Walmart and other western countries. India needs to compete better. India picks up the slack on service companies but China does manufacturing.

One basic reason for China's leap forward is that it got disciplined under the rule of Mao Zedong who prevailed upon Chinese public for a considerable period. Not considering some unpopular aspects of the Communist dictatorship, we have to accept the fact that Mao was able to infuse sense of nationality and commitment in his countrymen. This has curbed corruption in China and the country could march faster on the path of progress and development. Unfortunately, in case of our country, there was a free-for-all after independence since Netaji Bose who had a vision and plan to discipline the country to make it fit to function as a democracy, was no more on the national scene and those who took over the reins of the country, wanted to have their own way which encouraged corruption in all walks of life. Our leaders, whichever party they belonged to, have been busy ever since in enjoying the fruits of independence and building empires for their own generations. Now, to make up for the lost years, Mother India has to produce another true son before it is too late!

you see my friend China is 95% under the control of government which you call as socialist economy.hence wealth there is well distributed income and private sector cannot take advantages .rules have to be strictly followed.one can't dare to make a mistake in work.as a result corruption is quiet less and as you must be knowing that corruption reduces our growth rate.
but China is not 100% corruption free its just that it is less corrupt than India .For your knowledge economic growth rate of China is 10% and that of India is 8%.so don't think we are far behind.A far as cleanliness is concerned all India needs is more strict rules and most importantly aware, responsible citizens.
JUST STOP THINKING LIKE WEAK CITIZENS INSTEAD IF WE ARE BEHIND TRY TO IMPROVE COUNTRY IN THE FIELDS YOU CAN MANAGE TO AND JUST STOP CRITICISING

In our INDIA we are having all the resources&infrastructures to beat the competitors I belive.
Only things we have to find the initiative leaders.
Unfortunately here we are failing to select our leaders.
But at the same time the society may be ready to face situation.
Yes I CAN DO IT
I WON'T PAY
I WON'T ENGAGE
I WON'T ALLOW
MY SOCIETY TO GO DOWN.
