Using lower or uppper case does not affect the amount of memory used. Most pc systems use ASCII coding. These are basically 8 bit numbers to represent characters. A lowercase 'a' and a captial 'A' are denoted by different binary numbers with 8 bits. Whether upper or lower case is used the 8 bit number still has to be recorded regardless. For the record blank spaces also use an 8 bit binary number so 4 spaces uses the same amount of memory as 4 letters. This is true in the majority of cases, sometimes zip programs use clever coding to amalgamate white space and lower memory but in the purest sense the above is true.
