John Gregor Mendel of Austria is regarded as the father of the genetics. He conducted several experiments on Pisum Sativum (pea plant) and got succeeded as he considered some characters and worked only on them unlike the other scientists. He is also good at mathematics and so kept good statistical records his experiments. In Austria he used to work in a monsantery. So he is regarded as the father of the genetics.

The friar Gregor Mendel, he discovered genes while experimenting with beans. Human genetics would be some one else. I don't know who, maybe Crick or Watson, the men who discovered DNA.
