She will be protected by copyright through her own lifetime and for 30 years thereafter (used to be 70 years). By that time HP books will be old fashioned and lets face it she may tell a good story but it is not great literature so it is unlikely that anyone would want to do a follow up or prequel. However I do not think she should kill off Harry but she should end the story in such a way that a sequel would not be a credible proposition.

Does anyone understand the meaning of copyrights? Killing off Harry isn't the only way to ensure that no one else writes about him. JK Rowling owns those copyrights (along with the publishing house, I guess) and if she says NO to a proposal of a book about Harry, the book will not be published. She has the final say in this, because it's her character. So she will not have to kill him to protect her copyrights.

Well obviously everyone knos she is gona !! then wats the point..i think she shud...cuz everything has its end..and enough excitement has taken place cuz of this wonderfully entertaining character...

And if she doesnt ..then ppl r gona try n recreate smthg like this one ...wich doesnt allow ppl to actually put their minds to total imagination..

people will only be stuck to this idea..and we will not be able to witness another magical experience ... so JK rowling has made a wise decision to kill Harry Potter.

it may well be the traditionally literary element for Rowling to do. Harry's mom's love for him is what stored him from Voldemort the 1st time, ideal? (Admittedly, i've got in basic terms watched the flicks, yet i understand people who've study the books). this would mean that love could triumph over evil. It stands to reason that Harry's love for his acquaintances (this is a working topic in the time of all of the books) is what's going to save them and triumph over Voldemort...Plus it might make Harry a Christ-like discern, this is the traditionally literary element to do. various books and movies do this because of the fact sacrificing your self is the excellent sacrifice. announcing some spell would be taking the user-friendly way out in case you question me. the better section approximately it may well be that hundreds of thousands of babies international extensive would completely freak out if she killed off Harry. i think of that is astounding.

Not sure how that would "protect her copyright". As she invented the character, no-one can do anything with him without her permission, anyway - whether or not she kills him off.

She'll kill off Harry and Voldemort. It's the only way the book can end.

No. Everyone knows which Potter books are authentic, anyway. Even if she killed Harry off, people would still write unauthorised copies (she would have to kill off Hermione, Ron, Draco, Lupin ... ).

No, he should travel back in time and become the young Voldemort. I'll bet no-one would expect that as an ending to the series.

I don't know I think that she should because too many spin off's and things will come about and before we know it, Harry Potter's son will be returning to face the evil voldermorts twin. It will get stupid and ruin the book so i think she will kill him off.

If she kills him off, then maybe some guy will come with a story of how Harry was raised from the dead.
