If you don't take the Golden Gate route, it's about 50-58 miles to get to Napa proper. Yountville is 11 miles from Napa, and 3 more miles to Oakville. Rutherford is just a bit more, and St. Helena and Calistoga are a further drive. But not far, the Valley's not that long. Lots of stuff to do along the way up the Valley.

Napa has a neat downtown area, lots of shopping and dining. ABC Bakery is great. So is Buttercream Bakery. There's Mexican, Italian, Greek, and Chinese dining downtown. Along with upscale steakhouses. Of course there are the wineries. There are some good B&B's near downtown too who can tell you about Silverado Trail.

About an hour or a little more from the Golden Gate Bridge. I did the trip last year and it's not too long of a drive and well worth the visit to the vineyards!
