I respect your question. Please let me give you a respectful reply. Denmark, like other western countries, is essentially secular. Because of that and the provisions of free speech and free press, people are able to express whatever views they wish. Very often on Danish (or French, or German, etc) television, Christianity is also held up for dispute. This is called freedom.
The toughest thing about freedom is understanding and accepting that it doesn't apply only to those who agree with us. It applies to everyone, or it is meaningless. The French playwrite and philosopher, Voltaire, once said to an opponent, " I do not believe in what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." This is the authentic voice of western pluralism. The reason there are so few functioning free democratic societies in the world is that this concept expressed by Voltaire requires people to sit back and accept that while YOU have a right to believe whatever you wish, OTHERS are not obligated to share that view.
More important than my beliefs is the idea that the pluralistc society which makes the expression of my beliefs possible MUST be maintained. The ultimate test of social and political maturity for any people is its willingness to tolerate the views of those they detest. When you can say the words of Voltaire, and really mean them, you've reached that level.
Once again -- I respect your question, and I hope you will consider my answer. Peace.

Hello, I am sorry that you are misinformed. There has not been a tv program against the Prophet (PBUH). Instead a group of drunk teenagers were sitting around and drawing pictures of the Prophet (PBUH). Someone filmed it on an amateur video. It got to the media who made a big deal about it, because these stupid, young and irresponsible drunks happen to be members of the right wing Danish party called Dansk Folkeparti. Just about everone in Denmark is angry at them for being so silly.
If anyone wants to talk about the Holocaust and its lies as you hope - they can do it. But no one does, because almost eveyone here in Denmark has family who lived during the war and they know the truth: millions died and millions suffered.
Inch Allah the truth will set us free.

Your question is a valid question, but you're basing it on a wrongful background. The facts are that a youth group of a rightwing political party at a summer meeting party were entertaining themselves by making derogatory drawings of Muhammed. This was captured on video by people who wanted to expose that such things could take place. It was then shown by a small newspaper on the net and the story was of course taken up by the larger media - as an exposure of practices that are unworthy and harmful. It is not the usual attitude of by far the larger majority of the Danish people, and most Danes find such behavior wrong.
Apart from that, there are however two things you should be aware of. Firstly, that portraying Muhammed is not forbidden in the Quran - it has become a matter of tradition, but it is not included in the Quran. Secondly, that however much one may disagree with such behavior, they do have the right to behave that way - and even more importantly, the media have the right to show events such as those. As one of the other answerers very poignantly explained it - the freedom of speech is also freedom of speech for those opinions one does not agree with. And yes, people in Denmark are certainly free to talk about the Holocaust and everything else for that matter.

Dude, Freedom of Speech means people who DON'T see the world as do you get to say what they want. What is the harm? The Muslim world MUST understand that most of the world does not see the world as do they. Again what is the harm?
Your culture/religion will not be accepted in Europe until it understands that it is just as subject to being offended as the rest of us.
I'm a Christian. Many TV programs and movies insult my religion. I don't try to pass laws to prevent those people from offending me...again what is the harm.
Is Islam so fragile that it will fall apart if someone disagrees with it. That would expalin why Muslims in some parts of the world decide to riot over a non-Muslims comments.

They do not believe in your prophet. Yes they are free to talk about whatever they wish. The holocaust happened and just because you do not with to believe that does not make it false. So people are free to speak their minds in Denmark and all the other free countries. We do not expect everyone to think or believe the same way as everyone else. We do not riot in the streets and kill people who do not believe as we do. We do not riot in the streets and kill people who do not believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We do not behead people who will not convert to our religion. Perhaps you need to think about these things.
