Is baseball attempting to lure more homosexual fans?
I'm not speaking of the old terms like, "He's got 2 balls on 'im." "It is high, it is long..." etc.
Lately they seem to be adding suggestive nicknames to popular players.
With names like "the Rocket", "the Unit", "a Rod" etc.
Is this some kind of P.R. plan devised to join TV sitcoms and get a piece of a high-income demographic?

LET IT BE KNOWN...
...I put this question up in 2 catagories at approx. the same time. I was curious to see what the responses would be of a dual subject question, posted in 2 very different types of subjects.
I thank you all that answered and think it was very interesting.
If you would like to view the other one...

God says, and for those of you watching in black and white, the red ball is just in front of the blue. No, sports people cannot think suggestively in terms of nicknames as the whole sports industry is very homophobic. That said, God knows that commentators are known for playing practical jokes to see who picks up on them.

They have had these nicknames for the past 10 + years. This is not all of a sudden but certain teams will have LGBT days.

That sounds more like the imagination of a dirty mind than a marheting campaign.
