So people know what time it is, exactly the same reason some wear it on the right wrist.

There is no rule to wear wrist watch on the left hand ..it depends on what one is comfortable with.
Sometime back even i have heard of people saying that if you wear wristwatch on left hand you are intelligent..but all these facts are illogical and make no sense.

Well, most people are right-handed. So, if they're gonna be holding something like a cup of tea in the right hand, how are they gonna look at their watch?
Still not convinced? Well, fill a glass with water, hold it like you normally would, and try to read the time.
I'd advise you to use water of room temperature for the above experiment.
Good Luck!

It is usually worn on the left hand if you are right handed, that way if you go to dip your hand in the sink or a bucket your watch will be safe as its on the left hand.

Right handed people tend to wear their atches on their left hands because then they are less aware of them, less bothersome. My left handed friends wear their watches on their right hands.

back in the olden days, the winding mechanism was on the right side of the watch.. so, to wind it while it was on your wrist, it needed to be on your left wrist..
