SYNTAX is part of programming languages, usually as part of a statement/word/phrase that is wrong. This would be like someone writing a program and one of the lines was wrong, this would cause a SYNTAX error, just to indicate something is wrong.

The word Syntax is a Greek word which means arrangement, sequence, order etc. So a Syntax error would be an error with arrangement and in this case it could refer to programs, the internet, pretty much anything computer related.
