high expectations that you have to live up to ... u always have to work really hard if people think u r a genius - and keep proving it... unlike being good looking, where you just are & dont have to do that much to maintain it

I would think if your a genius, expectation from others must be astronomical, such as being perceived as perfect. That's a heavy weight to bear. It's difficult to live up to expectations so high because no one is perfect. I would guess the pressure from others creates secondary internal issues. Plus those expectations don't address the emotional aspect of carrying such a weight. In a sense, a genius might feel set up to fail.

But what do I know, I'm not a genius. Maybe I'm not even qualified to attempt answering this question!

With increased ability comes increased responsibility. The more you can do, the more society expects you to do. Social and self imposed pressure can reduce the person's ability to deal with the situation, impairing their ability to function. The more you think you are a genius, the greater the likelihood of this happening. .

It means that you expect too much from a genius, and usually they get to the point that they get tired of all that is expected of them. They cannot be a normal person. They are always restricted by their intelligence.

It can mean a variety of things... often times, that the person felt isolated from their peers by their intelligence or that having such intelligence felt like a burden and they felt they had too many obligations to society, to their gifts.

Some of them probably think their genius is a curse and it makes them miserable because they are aware of a lot of negative stuff. Or it is a curse because of their increased responsibility.
