the last 2 or 3 years i guess

The replacement in my experience has been more gradual then a full on switch.

For example the Optical laser mouse has been around for a long time but was at first more popular with the gaming crowd. since they were expensive they weren't that common.

Then as the price of technology dropped I saw more and more of my friends using the optical mouse.

now almost everyone i know uses them, and almost ever system comes with that(but then a lot of the lower end system packages still come with a rollerball mouse to shave costs)

That happened this year, a lot of problems occured with ball mice, and a number of ideas were put forward to replace them, the fiber optic mouse repaced it this year because they are more reliable and ore respinsive and less sluggish than a ball mouse, and you don't have to do much cleaning with them

They have not replaced thm but joined them, ball mice are still very widely used.

I think that was the year when the rats began to get the betterof them. Hope this helps.

are we talking about real mice, robotic or the computer form.
