Hey there, wondering whether you can help. I'm a British student (so forgive me if i'm not up with American history) who needs to do a short essay on the Civil Rights Movement between 1945 and '61. Basically all I need to know is what did JFK do for Civil Rights? Oh am I right in believing that he was after Eisenhower? I have got the notes somewhere but it's Saturday morning, i'm lying in bed and can't be arsed to climb out and go through my bag. I just need something short and sweet, thanks. x x x

here's something short and, hopefully, as sweet as staying in bed:

"Kennedy, John Fitzgerald (1917-1963)" in http://www.stanford.edu/group/King/about_king/encyclopedia/enc_JFK.htm

"President John F. Kennedy's Civil Rights Quandary" in http://www.historynet.com/magazines/american_history/3031991.html

"Civil Rights Message" by John F. Kennedy [June 11, 1963] in http://www.edchange.org/multicultural/speeches/jfk_civil_rights.html
