It seems as if you might be thinking of the "Warlord Chronicles" by Bernard Cornwell. The three books are: "The Winter King", "Enemy of God" and "Excalibur".

Fantastic books - the best Cornwell's written.

just a note. king Arthur was part of Celtic mythology, who might have fought the angles and/or the Saxons, but he has no part in the Bernard Cornwell books pertaining to the Norse invasion that cornwell wrote about. by the way excellent books can highly recommend them, been a while since i read them and cant remember the titles. no doubt someone will give you the title in "answers"

Bernard Cornwell - loads of action tied in with appropriate history. Try Vagabond etc - similar style - all good stuff

Go to the Library of Congress' website at: loc.gov and post your question on their query site. They should be able to give you all the information you could possibly want and then some.
