I was given VERSED and Demerol during a colonoscopy screening. I was told by the doctor I was going in for a "20 mim. nap and I would wake up in recovery in a hour and could go home. With no warning at all the nurse gave me the drugs and I went from trying to find a place to lay down my arm with the IV in it to sitting at home in a chair. I never saw any faces or heard any voices after the drugs were given to me, and at home I was so terribly confused and disoriented for the next two days and nights that I end up afraid and in a terrible panic attack. At the hospital E.R. they told me to go home and it would go away. It didn,t go away and I am now taking anxiety drugs and working with a psycologist trying to somehow get over the fear and complete distrust I have for these people who put me out of the hospital without letting me wake up from my "20 min nap". I have never in my life felt as unsafe and afraid as I do now of those people and the hospitals.

Its the prolonged recovery that is giving your anxiety problems not necessarily the meds. I had an auto accident and was in recovery for 18 months. You can get like claustrophobia from not having freedom of movement. Talk to the doctor and he can adjust meds or Rx new ones to get your over the hump. Good Luck
