What you call him depends on how open minded you are...

If a man loves a transgendered person, who was born male, but is transitioning into a woman, then that man loves a woman with a birth defect- a defect in born gender.

That would be a heterosexual/ straight relationship

Transgendered people are the gender they identify themselves as, not the gender they are born with.

Sexual preference and gender identity are not the same thing at all.

Otherwise, the man who loves the transgendered person...

is called "in love."

Love overcomes sexual barriers. I know many men that are currently having affairs with trans MTF and they are not gay.

Who cares, as long as the people involved are happy?

By the way, the terms you use in your question are totally ambiguous. Be clearer.
