This is normal under only one condition, within the confines of a rugby clubhouse.
Otherwise, I think you have to consider this as not normal heterosexual behaviour. After all, any curiosity could be satisfied whilst standing at the urinal. Asking to take a look sounds like the first step, if you know what I mean.

I hang around mostly guys and mostly straight guys. They talk a lot of sh** regarding their package but I never saw them or heard of any of them comparing size or wanting to even see their friends pieces. That is just what I have experienced.
