oxygen is required for combustion......if u close the candle with a tumbler....then all the oxugen present inside the tumbler is converted to carbon dioxide and other gases,,,due to combustion...after some time since all the oxygen is used up..combustion cannot take place...hence the candle burns out....

For the candle to burn, Oxygen is necessary.
Once the oxygen content inside the covered tumbler is converted into carbon di oxide and all the oxygen is finished, it stops burning.

Well, I can tell you sovered your sandle with a sup or tumbler besause you san't find the letter "C" in the dark! LOL! Fire needs oxygen to burn.
