I have tried Dell and they were only able to offer an external drive connected by USB. I would really like a replacement for my internal combo drive that has broken.

Any ideas?!

Any computer store can sell you one, they are all the same. Also the price difference between that and a DVD burner is so minimal these days, why not splash out and get a DVD burner?

Ebay is a great place. You can type in your laptop part number and name and usually find what you are looking for. Otherwise remember that these drives are all pretty much the same except for the bevels used so it fits your specific laptop. I have replaced 3 CD-RW/DVD-RW drives so far and only had to take out the square drive part and place it into my older piece after I removed it from the bay. I also found links on website for how to remove the drives from my laptop, some laptops you need to remove the keyboard and some cables under the keyboard to get to the screws that hold the bay in place, others I have been able to remove only 3 screws from the bottom side of the laptop and I was able to slide the bay/CD-DVD drive out. Good luck

Any drive that uses the IDE interface will work.

http://www.dabs.com are excellent value for money, so it's worth taking a look there.
http://www.pcworld.co.uk is the website for the popular computer store, PC World.
http://www.cex.co.uk is the website for Computer Exchange. It's a shop where you can buy, sell and trade second hand computer parts. They are all garunteed for a year, and fully tested. You can find a combo drive for about £20 there.

Take a look around in any local shops, and you're sure to find one.

I bought one about a year ago that's still in the original packaging - I never used it because the rest of the blerry system crapped out on me a coupla days later anyway, so I just bought a new laptop. It cost about 40 quid I think. You can have it for nothing if you can think of a way to tell me how to get it to you without revealing your home address (just in case I'm a mad Axe-Murderer). Where are you roughly? I'm near Oxford.

If you're in the UK try http://www.ebuyer.co.uk they either have - or can get just about anything computer related, and they offer good value as well, I never buy my pc gear anywhere else.
