California's environmentalists have successfully lobbied the Calif. government to add tremendous restrictions on pollution. For this reason Ca. requires a different refining process than the rest of the country, the rest of the world for that matter, so our prices are higher because of special requirements in the refining process. We certainly don't need another tax on oil. As it stands, approximately 50 cents a gallon is going to the government. Imagine if fuel weren't taxed, the price would be down around $1.75 a gallon right now. $4 billion in new taxes is not going to help Ca. In fact it could tank us again, by encouraging businesses to leave the state magnifying the repercussion throughout ca economy, sinking the tax revenue further in the end than it could possibly benefit the tax revenue in initial benefits. More liberal spending, more liberal taxation. 0 accountability for where the money goes. Vote no on 87.

By the way, did you know that the oil companies make approximately $.09 per gallon by Federal regulation? They are required to keep their profit margin below a certain point. All their profit records are being broken not because of gouging but because of volume of sales.

It's retarded...we also refine more gas than anbody else and export most of it to other states...and for some reason we foot the bill for 'em!

And they're still trying to get oil pumps going off our coast out here...as*holes!
