I am a bleeding heart liberal and I believe Jesus was the son of God. Am I the only one? If you ask the conservatives liberals don't believe and are anti-christian.

Why only liberals? Why not conservative or libertarian people who have proven that they can and do lead a decent moral life without dogmatic brainwashing. I do not believe that Jesus was the son of God but as an agnostic I don't really accept that there is a God. I look around the world and I clearly see no reason to believe their is a God that loves us and cares for our well being. As far as I can tell Jesus was nothing more than a well educated teacher who was taught from the time of his birth that he was more than a man to match what his mother had told the world either due to delusion or in an act of self preservation. And I have always found it interesting that so many Christians have for so many centuries managed to gin up so much hatred and violence toward so many of their fellow man in the name of a man who said to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. Exactly where did the Christian community lose track of that little nugget. Religion as a rule is one of the most divisive aspects of the human experience and Christianity has an honored place at the top of the list in that regard, going all the way back to the days when Constantine was essentially forced to make Christianity the official church of Rome, regardless of popular Christian myth.

It's a shame how poltics are taking on religion for their own service. Believing in Jesus is not for republicans or democrats is for human beings. Jesus came for the sinners and anyone who accept his teachings. Did Jesus came for the poor or for the rich? He said he have special preference for the poor " blessed are the poor in spirit because of they will posses the kingdom of heaven". He also said that it will be really hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. He compared it with a camel going throgh a small entrance. He didn't say it was impossible but he did say its very difficult. After all It was the rich farisees dominant class who crucified him. In the political arena the problem is who is in favor of the interests of the middle class and the lower classes and who defends the interests of the wealthy? I think if you call yourself a Christian you do what the lord did, you take care of the poor. Jesus lead by example.

Good point. People shouldn't categorize everyone in an organization as the same. Just because you are a Liberal doesn't mean you don't believe in Jesus or God and just because you are a Conservative doesn't mean you do believe.

As a liberal I will gladly allow you to believe whatever you want to. Since God is an invention of man, and Jesus was man made as well, he might well be the son of God. But it is guesswork.

This is why politics and religion do not go together.
Family well being and good paying jobs become a religious question,BUT, you dont see conservatives jumping on that band wagon
maybe conservatives are the anti-christ??

well, i guess it matters a little bit of what you mean by liberal. political, philosophical, social, whatever. however, one of my professors at bible college was a strong liberal, and pretty outspoken about it. he was one of the only ones who outrightly votes democrat, and he's certainly not shy on his political views. also, my best friend is nothing but liberal, and is a very strong christian. it is true that many christians are conservative, there are plenty who are not. it doesn't matter where you stand on contemporary issues to be a christian, it's a matter of the heart between you and Christ, and whether he is your Lord!
