Not anymore. yeah at one point it was concidered a health risk but now days women are waiting till there older. and some and a lot of women are in there 40's and 50's and are having kids. there more at risk but you still have to be careful of what you do and take good care of you and your unborn child.
good luck

I had my first baby at 34 and my second baby at 35. I am still 35 and after this baby is 1 year old we are going to try for #3. (I want a little boy) If I had known what a blessing children are I problem would not have waited so long> I really had no desire to have kids. I was on a med that weakened Birth Control and ,well you guessed it, I got pregnant. # 2 was planned and I love being a mom It is wonderful!! My sister-in-law gave birth at 40 the only problem she had was elevated B/P

scientifically after age of 30 the risk of having unhealthy child start to increase , but the precentage is toooooooo small until the age of 40 years in which down syndrome is 1:100 births
you can do genetic consultation if
u r worry or
if there is family history of retarded baby or

Hi there. I'm 38 and two months ago, I gave birth to my first child - a perfectly healthy, beautiful baby boy. I had NO problems and I had exactly ONE hour of labour!

Yr mom is out of date. My sister had her first at 43. Check out Mayoclinic.com. And talk to yr OB/GYN or MD. Times have changed.

Your mother is wrong. Many women delay having children until they are in their 30's so they can be better off financially. Talk with your doctor.
