It is very low lying most parts of Bangladesh are within 10 metres above the sea level, and it is believed that about 10% of the land would be flooded if the sea level were to rise by 1 metre.
It has three major rivers (the Ganges, Brahmaputra and the Meghnarr) that flow through it, criss crossing it. those rivers are hazards too, they flow from mountaous areas and when the spring melt happens large amount of water are relesed - far to much for the rivers themselves to come with, flooding Bangaldesh
hope this helps

I'm from Bangladesh and I got a bit amused by the question and a few responses corroborating the Asker's line of thought. It is sad that people in England are suffering from floods, and one of my friends Keny already suffered in the last month's flood. She was having real tough time with three small kids to take care in a situation where her house was surrounded by water and no electricity, running water and other utilities services. I wish we could have contributed in any manner. In fact, Bangladesh does send Tea, jute bags and such items to disaster prone areas and even contributed financially last year for a country which would not mind accepting friendly gifts. Now, if several of Band Parties of Bangladesh get together and go for live concert, the way they have done a few times in recent years, would UK people and government accept our 'fund'? Let us know if the Tea or Jute bags (to be filled with sand and used as flood protection barrier) would be more practical to the affected areas? It would be our pleasure to stand beside you in your testing time, the way you people have done all the years for us.

"Bangladesh is a riverine nation situated in the middle of the ganges delta. Mostly flat, there are a few hilly areas in the south east and the north east.
The delta landmass comprise mainly of three mighty rivers the-Ganges, the Brahmaputra and the Meghna, with a network of numerous rivers and canals. Vast green fields are hounded by low hills in the northeast and the southeast with an average elevation of 244 and 610 metres respectively. The highest point is located in the south-eastern extremity of Chittagong Hill Tracts."

-being situated in the world's largest delta you cant avoid floods
-mostly flat land
-poor country --> no flood barriers
-Worlds largest mountain range north of Bangla -->adds heavy rain to the flooding
Also, rivers and lakes are widespread in the region and the ocean touches its south
