For me this question is so difficult! And I get it often, right next to “Are you shy”? To answer honestly would imply a lot more opening up than I’m willing to do… especially since I get these questions from people I’m just starting to know!

Shyness, lack of knowing how to communicate, not knowing what to talk about, or even fear of saying something dumb.
Try just asking questions. People like to talk about themselves plus it is a sign you are interested in them and let them do all the talking. Now if they are asking you questions and you do not know what to say or do not what to reply, answer with a question.

Shyness could be perceived as an exclusive form of egotism, after all, most shy people are so self absorbed, they find it difficult dealing with others. Stop worrying about your life, show some interest in others. You could say, "I'm not shy, I just don't like talking to idiots."
Kinda bring up the shy factor in their lives, hehe.

People say that to me too. And the fact that they bring it up all the time makes me more conscious of it. Then when I do talk, people make a big deal out of it. But when people ask me, I just say, ' I'm not shy, I just dont talk much.' Truth is, I just dont like talking about superficial c#$p all the time, like the weather, the news or who died on Home and Away.

i never has anyone question me this cuz i kinda not a shy person. but well, if someone ask u this, u can just say that "cuz i'm a shy girl, is that gonna bother u or something " *wink*

My response: "Why are you shy?" -- "Why do you ask stupid questions?"
"Are you shy?" I would just stare at them quietly until they are uncomfortable and leave.
Stupid questions!!!!!!!!! I usually get "Are you mad?". Being asked that a few times a day would cause someone to get a bit angry.

just tell them it takes you a while to warm up to people. or you can say "thats just how I am"
