All of those examples are a waste of money other than nasa.

I say this only because I believe there are many advantages to learning about space and studying the effects of space travel.

Consider for a moment Mars. What if we were to go to mars and find a massive amount of some type of natural resource that we are lacking on earth? Would that not be a good thing?

What if one day in the far distant future, man needs to leave earth and find a new place to colonize? Sure, it's impossible now, but who knows 2,000 years from now? Do you think the medieval peoples thought that 500 years into the future we would be flying in the sky, or in space at all? I am sure the scientists of their day claimed that it would be impossible. None of our modern day inventions and ideas would have even been thought possible 2000 years ago, so who is to say today what can and cannot happen?

There is also talk about possibly harvesting near earth asteroids. Can you imagine if we found an asteroid the size of an entire city made completely out of iron? If we could harvest that, we would have an endless supply whereas on earth, there is a limit to everything.

Nasa does good work and I think it is valid work. While we may know more about space than we do about our own oceans, there is no harm in exploring both.

Wars, politics, all the rest is a giant waste of my money.

I would like to know where the signup sheet is that I need to put my signature on to state that I do not want any of my tax money going to any weapons funding. I don't want my $4,000.00 in taxes being a part of the 1.5 million they spent on the last missle they used to kill someone with.

***EDIT***

As to the person who said welfare... are you among the millions of americans who are completely misinformed and biased against anyone receiving aid from the state?

Do you realise that there are an equal number of families who truely need the help than those who abuse the system?

Are you aware, at all, how hard it is to get some help? I was out of work for 2 months once. Yes, I applied everywhere that had applications open, and yes I went to interviews. In the meantime, I asked the state for some assistance with food for my family. They told me that if I wanted help, I had to go sit in a classroom for 8 hours a day and learn how to look for a job, for a week straight. Meanwhile, I was supposed to find and pay for someone to babysit my daughter, I was supposed to be there instead of out looking for a job... it was all a pile of crap shoved onto the welfare system in order to suppress people from asking for help. Needless to say, I did not go, and I did get a job.

I paid taxes for 5 years before that, and I still pay taxes to this day, yet when I asked for help, I could not get it. No, do not put welfare down, they already discourage people as it is.

**EDIT 2**

If thousands of people do not have money they will go without food and accept it without breaking any laws to eat? What thehell are you talking about? Do you even know?

What do you suggest that these people who cannot work for valid reasons are supposed to do to get food? They're supposed to be hungry and go without because you don't helping people?

It's greedy, snotty people like you that make america such a crappy place.

Yeah, Welfare is a waste of money. If thousands of people don't have any money and are hungry they'll just accept it and not break any laws to eat!!!

Um iswd1, I'm being sarcastic, Luckily I live in a country that has real Social Security. Australia. I think it is only second to the UK in providing for those in need. Plus we have a Free Health System for ALL.

If my actions are making life dificult for Americans then my job is done. As an Australian my quality of life has been eroded to bolster up the perceived "Free American Society". It's just my way of balancing the cheque book

i can think of 2 ways in which the public's money could better be spent- one on the exterior of school buildings- some on the outside and even on the inside look like showplaces- unnecessary= because i believe that kids do best in a serene , clean- tho not sterile environment and it's the teachers, technology and learning materials themselves that are more important. also, i've read about the frivilous spending in the White Housefor entertaining "important' guests-

War!

In a time where we Americans are struggling to keep hold that we are the world power(and i think it holds importance because our values although may not always be right are just and keep the world just) I find that we need to start taking care of our own better.

there are many things that need better improvement such as mental health help

we have millions of people who are on the streets because they are mentaly ill and goverment hardly helps them while we spend more and more billions on war and other stuff such as to free debt of the african people!

key issues to saving money and helping to recover america
1) keep in our own buisness stop helping others when we have things to fix right here at home
2) Please do something about immigration its draining our economy
3) stop comming up with new wars
4) Stop sending jobs over to china and mexico
5) somebody inform me how we fix our medical insurance problems
all these things and many more things wouldnt be such a problem if we could focus on ourselves and not other countries problems

what do you think>? am i wrong? or right?
