and it seems joe torre insisted on leaving him in the lineup even with a bad back....i knew that the big unit would be a factor if the yankees dont win it all this year and it seems they are in a deep hole now against the tigers and the scenario i feared is now a looming reality...joe torre just doesnt see that the BIG UNIT BELONGS IN THE BULLPEN!!!!!....he's good for 3 innings then he just starts blowing it

yes i agree...and those people who dont think he can be good reliever dont know what they're talking about...if i had the big unit pitching for me in the 8th or 9th inning to save a game i would have a potent weapon....throw out the statistics in terms of warming up because the mindset would be different in relief...he would not have to worry about conserving himself so he can use more power and agression in his pitches as opposed to his usual style as starter...torre blew it with this issue

The big unit may be headed for the remainder of his career as a closing pitcher. Randy Johnson's better days are behind him...

Joe Torre left Johnson in way too long. And, If Derek Jeter would have held onto that line drive in the sixth inning, it would have been a better and closer game.

The N.Y. Yankees are coming apart because of their own undoing. In order to pull this series out, the Yankees need to rethink and collect themselves. I think the Yankees need to consider putting in Mariano Rivera at the top of the seventh inning and not wait until the eighth or ninth inning. This whole series may be slipping away from the Yankees.

The final game(s) should prove very interesting in the matter of the Yankees pitching.

I don't think he'd be a good reliever. If you look over his stats inning by inning, he regularly blows the first inning when he's on his game. In his good games, if the opposing team scores on him, they do it in the first inning. He needs too much time to find his mark to be a good reliever. As a starter, when he's good, he's GREAT. And when he's not good, he's really horrible. Unfortunately, the good games are getting farther & farther apart, but Torre keeps starting him because the good games are still there.

He wasn't so bad in ALDS Game 3, the real story there was how good Kenny Rogers was. The Yankees could have easily outscored a 5-run Tigers game, but Rogers was just too good to let them. I've never particularly like Rogers, but must admit he was on fire last night. Rogers outpitched Johnson by far.

Hey look, I am far from being a Yankees fan. The unit is 43 years old now, and has won 280 games. Show the guy some respect. I am slightly older than him and I do good getting out of bed some mornings. Cut Johnson some slack, he will make the hall on the first ballot.

The Unit was throwing fine. The Tigers just put the ball in play and the defense just couldn't make any plays. Don't blame Johnson. Give credit. He pitched even though he was playing with a painful injury. As far as the bullpen and Johnson, the two don't fit.

The Big Unit is in the twilight of a wonderful career, it's a shame to see it ending the way it is. Where is the Yankee offence?. Where's A-Rod and Giambi when you need them?. Overpaid wasters and yes I'm a Yankee's fan.

The Tigers could have scored only the one run against the Yank reliever and they would have won. Randy Johnson can't be blames if your lineup can't score a run. As a Red Sox fan (and married to a Cardinals fan), I have to say that the Tigers have just become my third favorite team. Oops, guess you can't dictate who's going to answer your questions :)

News flash from Motown!! It wasn't just the Unit's fault you guys lost last night!! Rogers was hitting the corners, and the Tigers were having great at bats, along with playing solid defense!

RANDY JOHNSON WILL NEVER BE A BULLPEN PITCHER. He is too old and broken down. It takes hours for him to warm up to pitch. He would have to start warming up in the 3rd inning to pitch the 9th. PLEASE STOP POSTING YOUR IDIOTIC SUGGESTIONS. TORRE IS DOING THE BEST HE CAN WITH WHAT HE HAS.
