My short answer: "No, because they don't".

My longer answer: "If ghosts left any detectable traces in their environment, then scientists should be able to find them and prove they exist".

Most "ghost encounters" are situations where someone hears a strange noise, sees a strange light, feels a draft, or something like that... and then jumps to the conclusion that the phenomenon must be caused by a ghost. A little more digging would turn up a simple, natural explanation, but once people latch onto the "ghost" explanation, they stop digging.

I've seen countless tales illustrating this exact point. Let me dig up a link to one.

the fact that ghosts exist is not a scientific fact. we know that ghosts, poldegeists exist from our holly books and from some experiences of us or other people's.
and you should really believe that they exist if you are a religious person, you dont need any scientist to prove that.
my last word is; scientist cannot prove that ghost exists with the technology in hand, but if one day they make a device for paranormal things, then they can prove...

There have definitely been scientific recordings of supernatural traces. Things science can't prove are how people can read minds, tell the future, levitate objects or manipulate matter. That's exactly what makes them so special.

Science, I think, is very eager not to prove ghosts do not exist, but with all the stories you've heard it's almost impossible to deny there are some sort of otherwordly beings amidst our plain. That said, I know a girl who talks to them.
