I'm a plaintiff in a personal injury case. Why would this happen? I retrieved the information from the courts website. My case more than likely will go to binding arbitration.

In many states and counties, when a case has been closed by the court, (and in some case when the case has been dormant for a certain period of time) the court will either microfishe (or microfilm) or digitally preserve the documents in the court file, and then destroy the originals. According to local and state law, if you wish to obtiain an official copy of the records, you may, assuming it is a case for public record (nearly all of them are) and will pay a fee for the printing.

This saves a great deal of storage space and also saves on the upkeep costs for the state and county.

If your case is still active, its possible that it means that the case had not been settled prior to their date for destruction of originals.

Contact your local Clerk of the Court for information on how to obtain copies. If you don't know how, contact an attorney licensed to practice in that jurisdiction. A referral can be obtained from your local or state bar association.

Case Files destroyed means that someone interferred with justice and the victim should now have compensation for those including the brothers who told her to accept rather than celebrate her life

"Case files destroyed" means the file was destroyed and any information relating to that file can't be obtained or if it is available anywhere then it would not be binding on the forum which officially destroyed it.
