I still have all the cards I grew up collecting and the ones I got from my Granddad. My wife says I should sell them but I love them too much, my favorites (signed) I have in a frame.
Mickey Mantle - 1957 season
Roger Maris - rookey card - yippee
Felipe Alou - signed after his in the park homerun
Joe Dimaggio
Whitey Ford
and a photo of my granddad and Babe Ruth, signed by the Babe. I keep that in my home office over the desk.

Indeed it is, but not to the extent that it used to be. Now there are so many different brands of baseball cards on the market that it has somewhat cheapened the experience.
Not to mention, baseball is no longer really "Americas Game". Too many scandals, drug abuse, player issues. It's not the game it has been before, and somehow I don't see it coming back up on top again. So yeah, still there... still popular? Not as much.

Absolutely. Only in the last 10 years or so have you actually seen shops or stores dedicated to the selling, purchasing and trading of baseball cards. Before that, they were only in bubble gum. If you don't believe me, go to E-Bay and see what they have for sale!

Still popular but less profitable. Too many collectors buying millions of cards to keep in mint condition. The small time collector cannot compete.
