Tales of ex-congressmen and underage pages make for much sexier headlines.

There's plenty of outcry if you know where to look. However, the mainstream media is always late on the scene with things like this. It's all a matter of business, and any news organization that takes strong stands will alienate a lot of potential customers.

There could be a lot of reasons why.

1. People are scared by terrorists attacks and are more willing to give the government more leeway to deal with defense, even at expense of civil rights.

2. People don't care that most of the people effective are foreign nationals.

3. People are more interested in who Paris Hilton is dating then world events.

4. People don't feel right decrying the governement while there is a war on for fear of dishonoring our servicemen and women overseas in combat.

5. People generally don't care anymore and are more interested in only what affects their life directly.

6. People don't really know what's going on because they are so cynical that they don't know who to believe anymore.

there is no outcry because nothing has crossed the line. there is this quote from a holocaust survivee. i cant remember it word ofr word but in a nut shell it said that there were signs that something bad was going to happen. they slowly started getting discriminated against. no one ever protested becuase they were waiting for someone else too. so his messege to the future was that sometimes you need to realize the signs, and do something about dont wiat for anyone else too becuase thats what everyone else is doing.

Because no one knows about it. Fox News doesn't report it. I posted a message about it on my blog, got 1 comment. The people in the US take no notice of politics, of their rights being removed, of The Constitution being shredded.

Pie boy, the reason you don't hear an uproar of protest is because no one is being offended. Unless you're breaking the law, planning a terrorist attack, or a pedophile you have nothing to hide. What's your problem? Are you one of those that I mentioned?

See Germany, 1934. Same thing there.

Obviously Mr. Bush is not a historian; nor are any of our politicians.
