The ratio of violent men to violent women is startling, not to mention that women rarely engage in child abuse behaviors as well.

Women have more developed frontal lobes...the area of the brain that is often associated with personality, empathy and emotion. Since men have been mainly the ones to fight in wars, go hunt animals and defend the family...men have less need of being nice. Women tend to stay home, take care of children and generally take care of the men...thus need to be more sympathetic.

Sorry, but the examples you cite do not add up to nicer. Less violent physically, true. But women can be really awful with lies and manipulations, and taking advantage of the fact that men need them worse than they need men. Also, there are more complicated aspects to being nice. For example, a man may be the sort that loses his temper once in a great while, but he regrets it and tries to make up for it. A woman may never realize just how horrible her manipulations really are.

Women also do engage in child abuse, but more often psychological than physical. Actually, the damage can go deeper on the psychological. After all, physical abuse is something you can use as an excuse to be an SOB for years, if not all your life. People will have sympathy, you can talk about it. But you usually don't even know you are being abused when it's mental.

Of course, since the so-called Women's Movement, these distinctions have been blurred and corrupted. Still, there are fundamental differences in the approach to life of males and females, and those things have not really changed. It's just that now women have the option of being like men if they want, then like traditional women when they want. Men get the short end of both sticks.

Now there is no question that women can be bitchy and they do,at least some, at times engage in violent behavior. But on the whole your observation is correct.

I recently read a book called "The Female Brain"--it is my a feminist neurologist. She said that until 8 weeks in the womb the brains of all babies are essentially female. At that time testosterone starts to rush in. It kills certain brain cells (like emotions and communication) and enlarges others (sex and aggression).

Accordingly men women are wired differently at birth which results in a host of consequences--including those you mention.

It is a very interesting book. I did a little discussion of it on my blog a couple of weeks ago in an entry called "The Sexual Divide"

i agree that the ratio of reported violence is greater for men than women, but what's your basis for child abuse?

if you've been watching the news over the past few years you'll see there's an alarming number of women who have been caught abusing children, both physically and sexually.

as for your question, i think it's relative and from the direction you've taken (ie violence) it could have something to do with men's testosterone levels being much higher than women. or maybe women just know what buttons to push on men to get a reaction (ok, so i had to add some smarty pants answer).

It is not necessarily true depending on where you live. In democratic countries the ratio holds validity however there are women in other countries that seem incapable of being able to show their children love, tolerance, understanding, compassion etc. and procreate for the sole purpose of sacrificing their offspring to become martyrs, hate mongers, etc. therefore my answer would be that women (and men) can be nicer if they are allowed to be.

"...because men are pigs!" ~about 99.5% of women~

It's very simple. Men are more physical, and women are more emotional. Look at sex and the whole aspect of what a man needs to be aroused and reach orgasm as opposed to what women need. Men express their emotions in a physical way (anger through violence and being "tough"). Women express their anger through manipulative mind games (playing "victum" whenever it's convenient for them). Women are mental terrorists.

Maybe we aren't as violent but we can be mean. There are violent ones out there to. My husbands ex would wreck the house hurt herself and beat him up. When he would restrain her by holding her down should would run to people crying saying he did it.

Women's brains are not wired for abuse and perversion, cause they evolved with their role as the raisers of children, so nature endowed women with gentler dispositions. Also women are nicer looking, yeah baby.

Water of River is sweet because Sea takes all dirt from river to keep them sweet. Woman are nicer because all conflicts in world happens becuase of only three reasons Money, Land and Woman. so men are more violent only because of woman who are real players.
