It should not be a problem as being a north american i've done the same. Check with your card to make sure it has the maestro symbol or the cirrus symbol. Also make sure you have a 4 digit pin. Finally, doesnt hurt to check with your bank

You can use any debit card at any ATM; the trick is figuring out what you will be charged for doing so. ATM at QuickChek are free. They won't charge you for the transaction. Most other ATMs will charge you just to use them, anywhere from $1 to up to $3. In additon, your bank might charge you an additional fee for not using their. So if you go to Bank of America and use their ATM, you could withdraw $100 but you will probably be charged $1 to by BOA and $1 by your bank, which means $102 will be deducted from your account. You can call the bank and check how much the fee is for using other ATMs. The ATM you use will tell you how much their fee is. You should probably try to find a United ATM. If you can't do that, use a QuickChek ATM to keep the fees at a minimum.

If your card has Cirrus, Maestro or a plus logo on it. It should work at atms and at merchants that take Maestro or Plus.
You do need to notify your bank that you will be going to London. This way banks will know to expect unusual transaction.
Also, the card my need to be activated for international transactions.
There will be fees for ever transaction you make using the card.

There are cirrus cards that work all over the world. Check the logo on your card. Check with a bank, your card's bound to work somewhere. ATMs give really bad exchange rates.

Yes. I lived in Cambridge, England over the summer and spent tons of (expensive) time in London without any trouble getting money out of any ATM.
