do i have to work only within my city/province/country if i get a degree in social work in ontario, canada? or could i bring this degree with me to say, the US or internationally?

The information you got isn't specific to a location, so you should be able to use it in any country which hires social workers. Licensing isn't transferable, and neither are subject matters like law, which differs considerably from one country to another, but a bachelor's degree in social work should not be a problem.
