i personally think that when you get married then you have made the conscious decision to not sleep with anyone else, even if you get the urge and opportunity.

however, while single and others are willing (and not partnered) then sure, go and have fun.

there's no biological reason for humans to be monogamous (didn't you see the pen and teller show? and countless other docos stating much the same thing), as this is only a human construct. and as for other animals being monogamous, well many are, but more are not, so there you have it.

enjoy, just don't hurt anyone along the way.

I doubt that it is possible to guarantee true monogamy (first sex partner must be your spouse). There are factors such as the person changing or not being who you thought they were. Having to put up with a bad relationship just because you believe in true monogamy would be crazy.

Serial monogamy is the ideal model (as in the wild). Sex is a zero sum game. If one has more partners then another has none and eventually you get enough jealous people that are lonely and depressed, thus they will end up releasing their anger (and the alpha male gets killed). It isn't pretty. A lot of crimes in this world (along with many world events) could arguably have been avoided if sex wasn't perceived as dirty by the female gender (thanks to social conditioning). No wonder why Amsterdam has a low rape rate (prostitution = no sex deprieved rage)...

Well it (trying to defeat the double standard) won't stop robberies or some of the murders though...

If the person has any morals or truly values their relationship, then yes. Monogamous relationships have gone on ever since the "dawn of man". There are even some monogamous animals out there. It is more natural for women, because they function more on emotions than men. Men can be monogamous, but most that I have talked to have always had the temptation to "spread their seed" to others. Men are genetically built to be capable of impregnating many women at a time, as all males are, mammalian or not, however emotional ties can limit this to their spouse/partner.

Yes because then it would show how serious you are about marriage. Sleeping with someone is an act of love for the serious person in a relationship. If someone has to sleep with someone else while they are married then they shouldnt be married and they need to grow up a little bit. Thats why communication is so important so it never has to come to that stage of straying.

I can only go by the example of my parents who were married for 64 years, have 16 children living, and have never been separated or estranged. I believe it is a natural extension of the love and commitment you have for the person you marry. And it should be common sense, I mean would you really appreciate your life-partner cheating on you, coming home potentially loaded with deadly infections/viruses such as hepatitis, aids, chamydia, syphilis, herpes, scabies and lice infestations, etc.

depends on the partner sometimes people find the right person for them and that will be the only one they will ever lay eyes on sometimes it doesn't work out and they move on and sleep with another each person has their own morals and beliefs and whatever feels natural to them is what is natural.

i think that it probably was the biblical ideal. but how would you know to pick the right person and what if the right person came along after you were already married.truthfully the first person you have sex with might not be the one to satisfy your needs and desires or even your security issues. So if you go with more than one person you have a basis to choose from for what you need.

Probably not but if the people involved value their marriage vows and have any morals, monogamy is always a choice for them.
