depends on how you feel about playing old games. the games arnt all that old now, but in 6 months when you see this new system(wii not ps3) and all it can do you might feel a little eh. and to find good games is 6 months will still be upwards of $30.00+ and it might be harder to find the good ones too. and remeber you need to buy a memory card and an extra controller too. so its not just 99.00 anymore its more like 150+ your first game (20.00 being the cheapest) so there you go is it worth it? try this
Name 5 games you want to play and prices
see how they compare to the system you have and then see if its worth spending the extra 150 bucks just to play those games.
consider the amount of time you will play them vs a system you might have now and the games they have coming out.
bam there is your answer. from a gamer.
then consider the starving children in....oh never mind.

Unless you plan on laying down $600 for a PS3, I think you should pick up a PS2. There is a HUGE variety of games, so you will get your money's worth. If you get a PS2, buy God of War. It is one of the best games I have ever played, and I've played a lot of videogames!

i would buy a ps2 because the ps3 has alot of price gouging like for instance with the ps2 you buy a game and if everything isnt unlocked it is unlockable. some of the games that are going to cost 60 $ for the ps3 you have to buy everything like for raceing games all the cars and tracks and then by the end the game costs 600$ and 9 out of 10 games for the ps3 are going to be like that. the reason i know is because my husband works for a video game store.

YEs! The PS2 is as of now the most mature console of all time. It also have the largest game library, most of them trashing most of XBOX's games (never dream of beating HALO 2 okay?). It is indeed good to have something to lay your hands on while you work yourself as an ant saving up for the PS3 (or some other things).

With it's current price, it is a good deal because you will probably use it for 1.5-2yrs. By then the price of the PS3 would be down to a reasonable level and there would be a good number of titles for PS3 to choose from.
