Yes.

Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God:
+ In praise of his glory
+ In petition for some desired good
+ In thanksgiving for a good received
+ In intercession for others before God

Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church.

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene)

But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1)

He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. "Man is a beggar before God."

With love in Christ.

Yes, I know the power of prayer.

Prayer has no power to make anything that is prayed for to actually happen.

Prayer has a different power. This power makes sure that no matter how stressed you may be feeling before the prayer for whatever reason, once you complete your prayer sincerely, the level of stress will definitely reduce, invariably, every time.

I believe that I don't have to know if God is there or not, but I must have the humility to pray - for my own benefit. It is in a way the cheapest medicine for stress or worry.

Yes. When there is no one else to turn to. Prayer is the only thing we have left. For some reason, its a force we can not explain but it works in trying times. If you believe in spirits or angels around you. Prayer is to communicate with that realm. Hopefully, they will lend you a hand.

Yes, it is the same power than going to your psy to find some relief and it is less expensive. However I do not believe that prayer is useful to make things happen. Prayer is only an act of faith and a dialogue you have with God. It does not matter if God does not answer directly, what matters is that you express your faith and have a dialogue with yourself.

I have observed the power of prayer to convince the already convinced that it has power. Apart from that I think prayer has a power to focus the mind - and that can have great power indeed. The rest, such as influencing outcomes, I regard as superstition and coincidence.

Definatly. I personally believe in a Higher Power.
Even if there weren't a God, the pray in it's self would have positive energy in the human spirit which in itself can change things. The mind is very powerful.

Absolutely. Not to sound shallow but to brag a little, my prayers are almost always answered. But then again, I don't pray for things unless it is very important. I spend my prayers giving thanks instead and I have seen the little miracles quite a few times.

Yes it is called Power of Prayer because it has the power to move mountains and it is a gift of God. Jesus Christ Himself prays and He was the One who taught us how to do it and it is through His name that it is heard by God the Father.

there have been several studied that indicate that prayer actually does work. the studies also indicate that as more people pray (in numbers) the stronger the effect. they were trying prayer at the U. of N.M to try and help alcoholics and druggies several years ago.
