I usually catch them early morning or mid afternoon. Vary your depth. Try white, purple, and chartreuse jigs, or yellow/black. Sometimes I get better results on minnows. If you can get around some brush piles you will do good, or if it's windy try throwing into the wind. Go to your state's fish and game website, and they should have the fishing reports for your lake. This will tell you a lot. Bass Pro also does this, if you have one in your area. You can also buy a fish locater that fits on your fishing rod and works like the ones on a boat, if you are fishing from shore or a dock. They are about $65.00 at Bass Pro, if you'll look on their website.
