I believe it was Darren Hayes of Savage Garden who wrote and performed your 1st song, "Truly, Madly, Deeply."

According to my source below, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards WROTE the 2nd song, "Bittersweet Symphony" by the Verve (from the "Urban Hymns" album).
