There is always a chance for Alonso, even if he starts 5th. Raikkonen is always fast, but starting 11th, it makes it difficult for him. Both Alonso and Raikkonen are on Michelin tyres. We have seen this weekend that on dry track Bridgestone tyres are superior here in Suzuka. But on wet...Michelins are better.

So, if it doesn't rain Ferrari/Bridgestone will win. And the team orders will smoothly allow Schumi to be number one. But if it rains, Alonso is favorite, and Kimi has a good chance as well.
Tyres make a huge difference when cars and drivers are all at maximum level of performance. Therefore, the weather conditions will determine the winner. As most F1 races take place in the dry and tomorrow's race is predicted to take place in the dry, the percentage chances of a Schumacher win are higher than Alonso's and Kimi's based upon what we have seen at Suzyka this weekend so far.

Being MS/Ferrari fan, I'm hoping that the lightly fuelled Toyotas will hold up the Renault and give the boys in red a sizeable lead in the first stint. Also, Ferrari will have to tell Massa to let Michael through ASAP after the race start to avoid the safety car situation which forced Michael to queue up behind Felipe in Turkey. Realistically though, I think the lightning quick start of the Renaults will put Alonso ahead of atleast one of the Toyotas after the first corner. I have the gut feeling that Alonso might even manage to overtake both Toyotas in the first lap. If that happens, we still have Felipe in P2 (by the second lap) who will do his duty as the No2 to hold back Alonso.
Fuel load-wise, I think the Ferraris and Renaults will pit around about the same time (Renault may go a lap or two further into the race). Ferrari could probably have afforded to put more fuel in, but they probably erred on the side of caution to ensure they get the front row grid positions as Suzuka is not a good overtaking circuit.
I think Ferrari/Bridgestone package have the edge this Sunday, provided that it doesn't rain and no major accident occurs that could mix up the result. Bridgestone tyres seem to work well over a longer run as well, so Micheal should be able to step off the middle part of the podium on Sunday PM with two to four point lead in the championship.

Aloha from Down Unda!

It's anyones race but my money would be on the 8th Championship of Michael Schumacher! Ralph is gonna help him this time too! It's so very easy to speculate, but the risk of anyone else beating the Ferrari Team seems to be minimal. With todays qualifying session showing Massa & both Schumakers ahead of the pack, there will certainly be enough ammunition for 'conspiracy' nutz!

Schumacher v1.0 might win; at the moment it appears he's in the catbird seat. Still, there is always the possibility of car or engine failure and Alonso could win the race, then he would be in the catbird seat going into the Brazilian GP, the last race of the season.
Oh dear me, this is the third time today that I've used 'catbird seat' in an answer; I need a neologism. :-)

I just hope that someone who is supporting Alonso allows himself to be lapped by MS and crashes into him when the moron German tries to overtake him.
