is it possible from your grandparents genetic makeup

The first possibility that comes to mind is that such child has different biological parents. (ie: impregnation by 1 other than the person's mate, or adoption) Another possibility is recessive/dominant factors, or hetero/homozygote pairing. For example: The gene for blue eyes is recessive. Brown, dominant. This means that if you get the gene for blue eyes from 1, then brown from the other parent, the brown gene will override the blue. You can only have blue eyes if you get 2 genes for blue.

Same way that my nephew ended up with red hair, although neither of his parents have red hair, and my daughter has blue eyes, even tho neither her real father nor I have blue. He inherited it from his Great-Grandmother, and she inherited from my mother. Somewhere along the lines of your heritage, somebody had ash blonde hair, and so on and so forth.

There are exceptions to every rule. My hazel eyed husband and brown eyed me have a blue eyed son, you in turn has a blue eyed daughter.
Once things start mixing, well, you just never know what you're going to get.

Recessive genes that are surfacing now. I have green eyes, as do both of my brothers. Our parents and grandparents on both sides have brown eyes. I have one Caucasian great grandparent on either side (we're predominately black), hence we all have light eyes. You probably look like someone from several generations ago.

Genetics. You get a fourth from your father, a fourth from your mother, and the rest of your genetic make-up is from your ancestors. You probably are a throw-back.
