I know a lot of people who have made similar moves. Ordinarily, I would strongly advise you to go to another school (I'm a business faculty member), but if you need to stay in the area and feel that an MBA will be useful for you, and assuming you can get into the MBA program at a school like Berkeley (it isn't a guarantee because you got your undergrad degree there), you need to go to the best school you can go to which, in your case, may very well be U.C. Berkeley. You can mitigate the perspective problem by making sure that you take different professors, perhaps even concentrating in a different area of business than you did as an undergrad.

I graduated from CSULB with a B.A. in Lit and I'm now getting my MFA in the same school. I recommend that no matter where you go, get your MBA. Bachelors carry less weight than they used to.. Consider getting a position at a company that will allow you to go to school for the MBA. Maybe they'll even pay for it as you will be a greater asset to the company after the MBA. Good luck!

If you can get in, yeah. Keep in mind though that taking the risk of going to an unfamiliar university looks good to many employers.
