You do not have to stick to your own sense of moral obligation; you can also say something about your perceptions of other people's sense of duty - the "evil" landlord, the "greedy" grocer, the clueless priest or pastor or schoolteacher.

In addition, it might be fascinating if you could write about how your personal sense of duty (as a biracial man in the inner-city) conflicts with your personal sense of ethics (what's right and wrong). This is the stuff of high drama, misery, and exultation.

There are many sources of information about this: the Internet, public and school libraries, friends who have lived the experience.

Gather all the information you get and organize it into a coherent sequence. Then add your own thoughts on the topic in appropriate places.

Maybe relate 'street ethics' or communal duties acquired while living in that particular environ, or a comparison, like city mouse & country mouse...Contrast is usually attractive.
