Hi......I was just wondering which group e.g. (Punk, goth, Emo, grunger etc) do I fit in? My favourite colours are red & back, I love gothic things, my fave bands are Nirvana, My chemical romance and PapaRoach, I wear black eyeliner & nail varnish, I think Emo boys are hot, I wear my converse shoes, trouser chains and grommet belts.
Thanks for your help!

Hi there
I'm 25 so although I might appear gothic I actually am more than just a label LOL so regardless you really shouldnt pigeonhole yourself.
I wouldnt say you're goth. It's more than just wearing dark colours (as some people think) otherwise nuns and priests would be the gothest of all! LOL
Gothic came from the punk movement in the late 70s/early 80s. Most "pure" gothic bands are ones like Bauhaus, Fields of the Nephilim, The Mission, Love and Rockets, March Violets, some of The Cure, Joy Division etc. Nowadays it's branched out into more electro, dancey, techno stuff or industrial or rock ie Marilyn Manson, HIM, The 69 Eyes.
Gothy music is generally melodic and often upbeat and dancey. It's not in any way heavy and is rarely metal. The whole thing about goths sitting about and moping is a false stereotype. The nicest, friendliest people I've ever come across have been gothic. I am talking about those generally over 18, not kids rebelling.
If you really want to label yourself.. then "rock chick". It covers all the bases for you :o)

You are you. Don't label yourself.. some kids do that and then they think.. "people won't think I'm punk if I wear this Nirvana shirt" and stuff like that. Hardly anybody falls naturally 100% into any category, so wear what you like, listen to what you love, and if someone tells you that you are emo, punk or grunge say "no I'm not.. I'm me." What the other person said.. rocker chick lol I think that is great, nice and general and open to creative possibility.
Take me for instance. When I was in high school I dressed in black and listened to metal, goth and industrial. I came to school in an alternative band shirt (Smashing Pumpkins maybe? it's been awhile so I'm not sure) and someone called me a poser. I was so mad.. how can I be a poser if I never claim to be anything? This was right before goth was cool and they didn't call us goth, we were all generalized as punk, and I didn't even like punk music back then. Then everyone was goth within the next year just like so many kids are emo now.
Now I do listen to punk music... and most people couldn't be categorized punk unless you really love a lot of punk music, but it's more than that.. it's attitude also, and going to concerts, and a lot of people would say it's knowing your politics and recognizing hypocrisy. When it comes down to it, most people do call me punk after listening to me and looking at my blue hair. But still.. I tell them don't label me.. I have a name and a face and I'm an individual. I still love Beastie Boys and Pantera and Bon Jovi and even Elvis.
Sooo
Try not to categorize.. it's too complicated haha..

You kind of sound like a bit of everything!
So I'd say Rocker, just to sum it all up.
No need to label yourself though. Fashion's less fun that way.
