To me, chivalry is not about equality. It's about being gracious. Which means it is about pleasing people. Hence, the death of chivalry is a bad thing. Yes society is an increasingly self indulging, egocentric place, where there is less and less space for chivalry.

Chivalry is treating women how you think they want to be treated, regardless of how they actually want to be treated. It often means doing nice things for a woman, but it's still pretty sexist. People can be perfectly civil to each other without being chivalrous, I think, and they generally are.
But if it comes down to having manners or having gender equality...I have to chose gender equality. Of course, it doesn't come down to that.

There is a dearth not death of chivalry.Females are rising not feminism. With more and more females expressing themselves and opting for careers in preference to household chores men are forced to work hard to compete,to get good jobs and to share domestic duties. Chivalrous and competent men are happy with family and career lives. Good and intelligent ladies are also happy with domestic and career lives. Men who think a woman`s place is in the kitchen and females who are refusing progress in thought suffer most.
People should not be judged on the basis of gender.

Overall, I think it's a good thing. It's better that people aren't treated differently because of their gender.

I have been working in a mostly male environment where men walk around holding each others ***** and at the end of the day, will support their gender, regardless of the issues.
Women can say get ****** as readily as men now. So What. We work fulltime, have a career and have to work twice as hard as a male to achieve promtion, go home, cook the meals, bath the kids, do the housework and the shopping.
There is no equality, women rule. Not in my lifetime, but they will rule.
