it's a very common expression.. I use it a lot myself. it's a lot better than saying "OH ****!" or "Oh ****!!" which can be quite offensive. sounds like you are starting to get irritated with some of your roommate's habits, maybe you need to get away from him/her for a while.

Probably to keep from cursing all the time. One of my favorite phrases is "Jumpin' Jesus Christ!" I also like "Jackass"
These phrases are far less offensive to most people than common 4 letter expletives.
